Have anyone used this script?
Is it possible to add a rig over mocap?


This LW Layout Script will copy BAKED animation data between Riggings, even

Riggings that have DIFFERENT Rest ROTATIONS, but similar Hierarchy Naming and

Rest POSITIONS. (In addition to copying IK/FK animation to an FK Rig, it can

be used to copy FK animation data [MoCap] onto an IK Rig, with a little prep

from the user.)

Looks interesting. I didn't see this plugin from timothy albee. His other scripts work great.

Generally I tend to use IKBoost for dealing with mocap. Its designed to deal with large amounts of keyframes on bones and works quite nicely for editing mocap.

I haven't used TA Baked Animation Transfer but, FWIW, I have used TA Poseworks and found it to be very useful. I imagine TA Baked Animation Transfer is well written too.

What I like to use to transfer mocap data from rig to rig is a plug-in called MultiMotionGN. It's not nearly as fussy as Load Items from Scene's Load Only Motion Envelopes command because it works on a set of selected bones. Selection order of the bones and additional bones in the rig doesn't seem to matter, just so long as the same bone names exist in the selections. The plug-in is even easier to use if you make selection sets for your rigs using the Bones Item List. Since it's an LScript plug-in, MultiMotionGN is compatible with either x32 or x64 Lightwave. Another plus!

BTW, I recently started using IK Boost to edit mocap data created with iPi Studio and four PS3 Eye cameras, and, thanks to Spline God's videos on importing and editing mocap in Lightwave, IK Boost is working out very well for me as a Motion Builder alternative. (Thanks for figuring this stuff out Larry.)


Edit: I should have added that Animeeple (http://www.animeeple.com/) is excellent for retargeting data from a .bvh rig to a Lightwave rig that is completely different in hierarchical structure, naming, and shape. To do this I bring in .bvh from iPi Studio and .fbx from Lightwave, and then export .fbx from Animeeple back to Lightwave. There's a bit more to it than just that but Animeeple has definitely made mocap life easier for me. Oh, yeah, and it's free!

Also, I recommend Lightwave 10's FBX IO over 9.6; the retargeting process is possible with 9.6's FBX IO but it's messy compared to 10. (Lightwave 10 should be coming out any day now.)
