Downloaded this "Patch Release 9.6 Open Beta 64-bit PC Platform" and when I click the Help / Enter License in Layout I get this error.

"Error MAKELICENSE.IS" "Line31. illegal arithmetic operation on data type"

Any idea's what it means and what I need to do to get it working?

THANK YOU for your time.

Try editing your license.key file in notepad instead.

the script isn't working correctly.
as nickdigital states: create your license file manually in a text editor:

- open an empty document
- paste your OB unlock key (from your NT account's "My Products" page) in first line
- save as plain text file named license.key
- place it into Program Files > NewTek > LightWave_961_PC_64 > Programs

Phase 6 keys expire shortly, but Chuck already mentioned having initiated the release of new keys.

Thanks I will try that today.

rsfd I did all the steps you said, no luck.

But understand that I get that error before any box open's to put my license in. When I click on Help / Enter License I get the error and no box to put my license in.

I mean all this before I tryed what you said. I also thought your way was going to work:)

Hi Joey C,
the idea with creating the license file manually is to avoid the "Enter License" script completely:
If the file is already in place, LW will find it on launch.

I guessed that your problem is that OB runs in "Discovery Mode" without a proper license file. If the manually created license file is correct, LW should start in "Unlimited Application Mode", so there is no need to use the "Enter License" script.
And just to be sure: I assume, you have registered OB at register.newtek.com and you have an OB 64-bit key for 9.6.1 (as the OB key is different from the 9.6 key)

Do I need a DIFFERENT license for the 64bit on the 9.6 beta? I do have a license for the CORE the beta 9.6 but I guess it's for 32 bit and won't work on the 64 bit download?

I believe the license for the 9.6.1 beta is different than the one for 10/Core.

Yes, afaik different unlock keys for 9.6 / 9.6.1 / LW10-CORE.
And (at least on Mac) unlock keys are different for 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
For the OpenBeta: new keys (Phase 7) are posted in registration.
