I'm looking for a LW to Sketchup, and vice versa export/import plug-in. I found a thread here for one, but it was done in 2007 and is probably outdated. When I tried to download the plug-in, the link seems to no longer work. Does anyone know of a new plug-in that will work with LW v8.5 and SU v8.0?

Thanks!

It works with lw 9,6 and sketchup 8, but texture isnīt exported out.

You should keep sketchup 7 and have the option to export out collada correctly too.
In sketchup 8 they have changed to a newer collada version wich lightwave and houdini and vue doesnīt recognize geometry in.

put both rb plugins in sketchup folder and in sketchup check preferences and check the lw exporter.
You will find it under sketchup tools when installed, make sure to restart sketchup.

Out of curiosity why do you use sketchup?

I use it to convert from the buzzillion free models- http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/search?scoring=r Most are low res but I find a lot of useful and obscure props.

I just found out yesterday that Adobe director can now import sketchup files.

You can export 3Ds files from LW and import them into Sketchup

Yeah! It works pretty well, but you have to make sure to triple the polys, when you have all quads. Oh, and the title of the 3DS file can only be 12 characters long. Also, models seem to import into Sketchup rotated and not at 1:1 scale, but that is fixable.

Silk: Adobe Director looks cool, but it's not within my business budget at this time. Might check into it down the road, sometime.

You would think LW would triple automatically on export for 3ds files since that is required for that format. It would save the time of tripling saving then undoing, etc.

Yeah I wouldn't mind getting director my self one day, but I have other things to get first. Trying to stay with my wish list order of needs then wants, or at least what I think I need. lol.
