split image network rendering (especially under osx, where no third party solution is available) would be one of my BIG wishes in these days of hours and hours of radiosity renderings... :-)

This would be a welcome addition but both of you are under a misconception - splitting up an image into multiple slices will not necessarily speed up radiosity, especially with LW's current implementation. Depending on the complexity of the scene and how the light interacts with the other items the speed gain can be quite minimal since even for a split render the entire scene might need to be calculated (Render nodes do not communicate with each other and waste power -> a native implementation could of course overcome this). also having some sort of ordered radiosity would make things easier.
