Thereīs some tests Intel vs AMD in Tomīs Hardware )http://www20.tomshardware.com/cpu/20030923/athlon_64-45.html) published today. Therīs one wth Lightwave thatīs really interesting. I heard a lot about "lightwave is pentium optmized" but this chart shows head-to-head competition!

Toms Hardware is an anty-AMD site (no matter if the numbers speak clear): overclocked P4 against plain Athlon64 on 32bit Windows!!!

From anandtech -
"AMD manages to come very close to Intel, finally, in 3D rendering performance that is accelerated by the use of SSE2 optimizations. Intel still holds the lead, but AMD is finally competitive."

I really an AMD fan, and I happy because itīs seem itīll be real competitor with new 64/fx processors. Letīs wait for prices

caesar... sorry for the mangled link!

Yep, I'm an AMD fan too! ;)

Tom's picture confirm what I'm saying!

Prices:
Athlon 64 3200+ will sell for $417 in 1,000 unit quantities
Athlon 64 FX 51 will be priced at $733 in 1,000 unit quantities
Pentium 4 3.2 EE will sell for around $740 in 1,000 unit quantities

Bye.

Wow, I never realized my little 2500+ could beat out a P4 2.6! :)

I noticed that about the site
No matter what, Intel will somehow have a faster CPU listed.

In order to beat AMD now they have to put the Xeon against the AMD.
Which means they have to go to a 3.4 GHz (intel) to beat the 2.2 GHz (AMD)
Heh

The new P4 EE is truly a Xeon moded to the P4 motherboard, with a 2 MB L3 cache....

Whatīs interesting here is that Athlons are very good now, and even better with the new processors. In the chart above the Athon FX 51 lose the #1 for 0,9 secs! Itīll need a new motherboard (the p4 EE doesnīt) but itīs 64 bit processor.:D
