View Full Version : IK pass through?

I'm animating a robotic arm to match an actual device.

The bot has two arm segments which are the exact same length, and a hand, all stacked on top of each other, like so:

________________________!__ (arm 1)
BASE ( ! represent the pivots)

Essentially, the hand only moves forward and backward in Z, and the arms scissor to accommodate the motion.

I have the IK working so that I can move the hand in Z, and the arms move as they should - except when the hand is right on top of the base, (in theory 0 heading for both arms) at which point the arms jitter a bit.

How can I make this work sans jitter?
