View Full Version : Pie chart?

Im working on a pie chart animation and was thinking that it could not be very difficult. But I found out it is.

I found this tut : http://cg.tutsplus.com/tutorials/lightwave/newtek_lightwave_adobe_after_effects_lightwave10_s cripting_modelling_tutorial/

...but there should be a easier way to animate a cylinder to "grow".

Im wondering that could it be made with a tool that could "rotate and strech" at the same time + with a morph.
Is there a way to rotate and strech at the same time? (see attachment)

I need just a simple pie growing from 0 to 100%. Just one segment.
Can it be so difficult?

Have a look at this: http://www.youtube.com/user/bryphi77#p/c/D5F7ABC5F0E85BAB/0/zwNslfhaUwo
(there's no audio with this one, but there might be with the hi-res download - see below video for link)

Thanks for the link.
That seems to work but I cant understand that this simple thing needs weight maps, 3rd party stuff and 4 nodes in node editor.

If I want to "grow" a square box in layout, it takes only strech tool and keyframes, but "growing" a circular object...whoah, whole different thing...

I know. It sounds and looks so simple but isn't. Do the tutorial and you won't be disappointed with what you end up with.

Also, if you need scripts for future work when making graphs, have a look at this:

I don't know what version of LightWave you are using, or if you are on Windows or Mac so this plugin might not work.
See this thread: http://www.newtek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88898&highlight=animated+lathe

Read from #4 onwards (there's even a scene and object attached)
