View Full Version : Changing Backdrop in a scene

I want to change the backdrop colour during a scene. I am trying to animate the effect of washing a blood sample whilst retaining a cell of interest. I want the background to change from a reddish blood colour to a stray plasma colour.

Can I do this by changing the backdrop colour and having a gradation between the red and the stray?

The alternative is to have a straw backdrop with a red fog and wash the red fog away.

Any suggestions would be great.

One thought that comes to mind:
Create a large flat-plane object and assign it a surface.
Place this large plane behind the object of interest in your target scene.
Create an envelope for the plane surface, and change its color (in the Graph Editor, for instance) over the number of frames you require.

An alternate to this scheme is to render out frames of just the envelped plane, and then use the sequence of images as a composited backdrop for the scene of your object of interest.

you could use texture environment and keyframe the color by using a gradient and evelope it's opacity. But I would render with alpha channel and add the background in post, more flexibility that way.
