View Full Version : Commercial Mocap Data?

Along with standard archviz work, I do quite a bit of specialized work, like skatepark design, for which I'd like to add 3D characters skating through the models. Now, CA is not something I do, nor interested in doing, but I'd would like to know if there is any commercially available mocap data which would meet my needs. Or, are there any studios with mocap equipment which produce data by order (though cost there would probably be prohibitive)? There are many standard tricks which could be reused from skatepark to skatepark, as all share certain features.

My clients have been pleased with my skatepark models and animations thus far, but I'd like to take it to the next level and add some real action to the scenes.

Greenlaw is using ipi on this thread.

I'm shortly going to be using it with MotionBuilder.

There's the free mocap data from CMU:

http://mocap.cs.cmu.edu/

and many commercial ones like:

http://www.truebones.com/

check out JImmyRig: http://www.origamidigital.com/typolight/index.php/home.html

Which I use, but am heading in the direction of MotionBuilder and hopefully R H Riggit Pro. http://www.newtek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=112568

Hi Mike,

Check out http://www.animstreet.com

and Truebones http://www.truebones.com

Which are the 2 best websites to look for motions.

We can help you make the motions you are looking for and it just so happens...

I was just working on skateboard motions.

Type skateboard in the animstreet search.

Was this kind of what you needed?

Get back to me.

Cheers

And... the Kinect works with iPi and BREKEL drivers for Kinect (http://www.brekel.com/?page_id=155). Generates BVH AND lets manipulation of Motion Builder characters IN REAL TIME!!

Real time!

Really cool!
