Well... we don't know what it is, do we?

Maybe it is just a neat video showing what LW10 is about and what will be in the package when you get it.

We can always speculate of course, but I have a feeling that it will be something that shows how LW10 is supposed to work with the three modules, and what each of them brings to the table.

Hopefully it's something totally friggin' awesome so that I can tell my kid later that he was babtized on a day that "whateveritisthatisliketotallyawesomeandall" happened hehe :) I must admit that the last time NT used this kind of marketing, with the countdown and all to reveal CORE... I was really impressed by them for daring to use such cool marketing techniques... but alas, when the video finally was on my display I was friggin' pissed off becouse the video kind of showed less than nothing, and nothing reallyreally cool that nobody had ever seen before. But I probably felt that way becouse the build up had been so massive, so I dare say my expectations were running high. On the other hand, if they had shown us more stuff like they showed at SIGGRAPH then it would have been perfect.. just hope they don't lead us on for the longest time, only to be a big let-down again.

* The angle in degrees for which a rainbow appears.

* In binary it is a trinity.

* There are 42 principles of Ma'at, the Ancient Egyptian personification of physical and moral law, order, and truth.

* In Western Hermetic sphere work 42 is the sum of the values of the 'true' spheres, 3,4,5,6,7,8 & 9 each of which represent one aspect of the body of God through which we observe the world.

* The eight digits of pi beginning from 242,422 places after the decimal point are 42424242.

* 42 is the expected number of throws of a (single) fair die until two sixes show up successively (for the first time).

Not so much focus onto CORE as i had expected, so i hope to see more in the near future.

Next time when showing off the new bullet implementation, use a more complex example and show it through standard openGL, the VPR was just distracting.

But again, looking very good and LW 10 / Core looks like an incredible upgrade. And I'm still very happy with the way Core is being built. Can't wait fo it to be ready for standalone awesomness!!

Yeah i am looking forward to them but i sometimes wish NT would not say things and then leave us hanging as it were.

Im sure they said that there would be more frequent updates and to be honest if it is still intended to release this year we will need them to iron out any problems before then.

If the release is put back im happy with that, i hope its not released until its as ready as can be, allot of LW users and ex LW users are watching this very closely and may make their future software choice based on how LW10 v 1.0 fairs, i realise this is only the first release but many will be looking to see how much NT has learnt from past mistakes.

All you need is what gets the job done. And that isn't millions of polygons that you saw with 40 different brush types. It's the PDform tool. Core and 3DCoat aren't designed to handle as many polys as Zbrush. Where as ZBrush isn't designed for painting on a texture map in real time like 3DC is.

Was Core shown running on a Mac of any kind in that video? I watched it all of the way through once but wasn't looking for any apple logos. Not trying to pick a fight, but am curious if current Mac performance is good enough to make it into promotional materials.

Overall a very good package. Interviews with studios using the product was especially strong.

That's the concern I have. As for performance, I don't think it is the problem : my iMac is a quad-core i7, just as many PC's, and 9.6.1 is pretty fast on it.
The problem would rather be the native Mac version of LW10&Core which may (I'm just guessing as I'm not HC member) not running well. I've seen an interview of Lino Grandi where he demnonstrates Core and LW10 on an iMac, but it seemed to be running on a bootcamped windows version.
What I want to know is if Core and LW10 do run natively on Mac OS X or not (yet) as I don't intend to buy a Windows license just to run Lightwave.
This said, I can wait a few months for a demo version and find out by myself, as I (sadly) don't have the cash to spare to join the beta ATM.

Hm kinda wish I was part of the hardCORe thing... oh well... maybe some other day.

I know it was suppose to be an incoming message, but as much as I love sci-fi stuff, the black and white parts seemed a bit... out of place... There wasn't even an intro that suggested that it was from outerspace or anything...

Cool vid though. I didn't know about that OpenGL bit. That's pretty awesome. It seems companies are finally starting to realize that you can do more stuff with OpenGL.
