uuuggh I downloaded the 50Mg file on my dialup while I was at the Macromedia MX 2004 launch this morning, go home and don't seem to be able to play the file, just getting a black screen with the audio.

09-23-2003, 01:27 AM
DUDE! That was AMAZING! I am SOOOO JEALOUS of your texturing abilities! How old are you guys? How long have you been doing 3d? This needs 5 stars for sure. Honestly, that was frickin' beautiful guys! WELL DONE!:eek: :eek: :eek:

09-23-2003, 04:58 AM
Man that is to awsome!

At first I thought it was turning into some nano-technology futuristic stuff inside someones body maybe. Then I caught a glimps of what I swear looks just like a couple scenes in the myst/riven games.

Where'd you get those ambient sounds, they fit in great!

09-23-2003, 12:18 PM
F**king hell awesome! :eek: :eek: :eek: Your works are really very beautiful!!!

I'll looking forward to your the making of Akryls :)

Great, I love the white "Flying Bug Machine" with those tiny feet:D

09-23-2003, 06:59 PM
I realy like this peice as well. excellent amount of detail in the cityscapes. and that big flying mechBug is cool too. this would make an excellent set for a character based Sci-fi story.

09-23-2003, 07:19 PM
Gorgeous. Very atmospheric and visually stunning. One of the nicest animations I've seen for a long, long time...

09-23-2003, 08:10 PM
I am a janitor.:eek:

09-23-2003, 08:11 PM
Amazing work... Best I've seen in a long time.

09-23-2003, 08:33 PM
that is some truly mad imagery,I too downloaded on dialup but I sat and counted down every second. I can't imagine how you did that in 6 months. It's given me a lot of hope for my short animation. This is the only piece yet that I've given 5 stars to, well done.

09-24-2003, 12:30 AM
This is some truly amazing shait, haven't seen anything that good in a long time.

Can't wait to see some making of and/or tutorials on how you guys went about.

09-24-2003, 03:31 PM
That was truly incredible!

Not only was the animation and visual design fantastic, but the sound design and sound effects were spectacular too.

Awesome work!

09-24-2003, 10:51 PM

09-25-2003, 01:04 AM
Geezuz Keeriste!

I want to see feature length movie from you guys..

Truly the most amazing thing I have seen since I picked up those Minds eye videos way back when.. they got me into the whole computer generated design thing...

Wow... movie... movie... movie!!!

09-25-2003, 01:05 PM
See now..
This is the VERY reason I hate you guys ;) ;) ;)
Damn, that was..well. awesome sounds so silly and trite really, it was just superb, the city, the microscopic world, focus effects on the "slides"
From the cityscape to the large creatures roaming the 'outlands'.
The camera work, the ..well..dammit..all of it :D

I'd love to know just how much of this was LW "out of the box" and how much relied on 3rd party plugins and propriety software.

Truly amazing! :cool:

Amazing. Just freaking amazing.

Oh man, this anim has GREAT mood in it. I watched it four times in a row in a kind of hypnotic state. It's a really a great piece.

It feels like everything is done perfectly in it. Lightning, modelling, texturing, rendering, compositing, just everything. Man, these animations make me want to try harder and to stop doing this stuff at the same time... :rolleyes:

Oh please, please, pretty please, do some more stuff like this... I want to see more.... *drool*

So what's the final word on the microbes at the beginning? How was that done?

09-26-2003, 05:10 PM
Magnifique, un travail grandiose!

Clap clap clap ;)

09-27-2003, 07:44 AM
Thanks you very much for all replys, we are really happy with this great feedback!
About the microscopical images at the beginning, this was done with a DV camera mounted on a microscope.

Here is a detailed timecode to show what parts is CG, Video or the two.

0'00 --> 0'42 : Video
0'48 --> 0'54 : Full CG
0'54 --> 0'58 : Video
0'58 --> 1'04 : Mapped photo with CG animals (travelling done in LW)
1'04 --> 1'11 : Microscopical photo mapped on 3D geometry
1'11 --> 1'20 : Full CG
1'20 --> 5'10 : Full CG

09-27-2003, 08:26 AM
Thank you for the detailed breakdown and congrats, again, for suceeding with such an ambitious project.

09-27-2003, 10:24 AM
The DV camera work is sharp! If I ever need to film the lifestyle of my kitchen counter, can I call on your services? :D

09-27-2003, 04:29 PM
c'est purement fantastic, bravo !

"I wasn't even 1/3rd through your movie and all I could think about was "Frank Barroan" from "Everybody Loves Raymond"...

Amazing work. Did anyone else think the city scene was practically Episode II quality?

Question: For that city scene, did you do a Radiosity solution and bake it to the models? Or maybe set out a grid of soft blue lights and shadow maps?

Hope you don't mind me being nosey. :D

10-01-2003, 06:05 AM
c'est superbe, tout simplement.

10-09-2003, 01:44 AM
Absolutely stunning!
One of the most impressive lightwave shorts I've seen since "Road 405".
Bravo vous : on attend la suite avec impatience!
(congrats, we are waiting for more!)
