Forgive me if this has been answered (I did search through forums). Is there now, or will there be in the future any good way to export 3D data to other applications? Like after effects? I've been a lightwave user / customer for probably 10 years now (matter of fact just ordered 10), and getting data exported for use in other compositing apps is hackish. Yes, I've found lscripts (http://mentalfish.com/2009/08/lw-2-ae/) that will do it somewhat (with the camera), but this seems like basic functionality for anyone using LW in a motion graphics production environment. Maybe I'm just unaware, just looking for a way to export nulls, cameras, lights etc to a ma file or something similar. I've always been a defender of LW, now that i'm dealing with vendors who use C4d, max, maya etc that can export this data, I'm trying to figure out if LW is a real possibility for my studio in the long run (3D / 2D compositing, tracking, etc). Thanks in advance!

The motion of a item can be saved by going to File--Save--Save Motion File. I got a camera into Blender that way. Maybe it can work for other things...

To transfer data between 3d apps look into PointOven.

so...the solution i found, cinema 4D opens lws scenes. if you bake all your keyframes correctly it makes it a breeze to just write out an AE file from c4D that I can then lay over my lightwave rendered img seq in AE
