I'd like to hear from anybody that has used the NX5U with Virtual Sets on the TXCD300. Is the 4:2:2 coming out of the HD-SDI sufficient for a better than "okay" key. Would a camera with a 4:4:4 output show a significant difference?

Yes it would definitely improve your key BUT you Couldn't use it with the TC.

Because single line HD-SDI is always 4:2:2. (Beside 3Gbps on SMPTE 424M)

Only Dual-Link SDI gives you 4:4:4 and an optional Alpha channel.

A good explanation can be found here: http://www.extron.com/download/files/extronews/hdsdihdmi_ts.pdf

Cheers

We just finished an install at a school with 6 of the NX5U cameras and 2 XD300s. On the studio setup we are getting a more than sufficient key. We did install a decent FloLight lighting package and also a ProCyc greenscreen wall so that does help a little. The most help is of course the correct lighting. The little cameras make some great looking video with the XD300 no matter what. I highly recommend them.

Feel free to ask any questions if you have them. I hope to have a case study on the setup done here shortly too.

Jef,

Did you sell the camera/light package or just do the install?

Jef,

Did you sell the camera/light package or just do the install?

Yes and Yes.

We are a full systems integrator. We not only sell the gear but we install and make it work also.

I'm in CA. I don't think I need someone to install. Would you want to give me a quote on the equipment package?

I agree with Jef. We've got a couple NX5Us & Kinoflo lights. We're getting a great key with the virtual sets.
