I'm trying to render a file that is nearly 3 hours long. VT3 always bombs out around 2:14:07. I've tried twice so far, and each time I get "VT[3].exe has encountered a problem and needs to close...etc...".

There are only 3 avi files on the timeline in which I'm trying to render from. I'm using the DV1 codec. Any ideas what I can look at to resolve this prob? Thanks.

Are you rendering to your video drive?
Do you have sufficient free space?
Is your drive formatted as NTFS?
Do you have large JPEG's in the project? If so, turn off background rendering to see if that helps.

Yes, I was rendering to my video drive, which had over 300GB free and formatted NTFS, using only 1 PNG file for the entire video.

Stangely enough, I played through the part where the render would die from the timeline, and VT3 still crashed, just by playing back the video. I guess part of the AVI became corrupted, oddly enough. I edited a few seconds out, rendered again, and it worked fine.

I guess if a render consistently dies in a particular spot, you might check to see if the video is ok on that spot as well. Live and learn...
