Hi Experts,

I've been a Lightwave 3D user for years, but just recently started learning character animation. Let's say I have A LOT more respect for CA than before!

I have a client who wants to animate a soldier - walking, setting up equipment, etc. I've watched some tutorials and have some rough rigs I've made, but they are no where near usable.

My question is if anybody knows a good soldier character model and rig I could download or purchase? It doesn't need to be extremely detailed, but it shouldn't look cartoonish.

I've found this one: http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/349044

But, I don't want to spend the money if it's not going to work for me. Does anybody have an opinion on buying rigs like this? Do they work? Or should I just spend the time to make my own?

Thanks in advance!!

If the problem is the rig, you coud get rebel hills auto rigger for a lot less than that.

I knew posting to this forum was the best thing to do before spending any significant time or money! Thanks!!

I'm still researching, but RHiggit looks very promising!

$189 for just that mesh?!?!?!? Somebody's on CRACK!!!!

If you watch my Lite setup demo... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPNP8DkSp2A

You'll see at 4 mins in a lil clip of a soldier character I rigged using it, its also in the instruction vids as an example of customisation, for packs, straps, etc. That model was free on the 3D worls coverdisc a few issues back, and took about 15mins to setup and rig fully.

So hunt around, you'll find a totally decent free model somewhere, and my rigger will sort you out for animation in a snap.
