Would You like to use custom shapes as bones ?

I'm not opposed to the feature ( :p ) but I would never use it myself.

Can you give an example of where and when that would be useful ? Maybe I'm too accustomed to the way they work now to see the immediate benefit.

Having the options to have custom shaped bones and solid bones would make it much easier to work just with the skeleton, because You could have bones that look much more like the animated mesh than just those wireframe things we have now. Who can tell what rotation a bone has right now ? You can only determine the direction ít points towards, not its bank angle for example...

How Your skeleton could be almost like a lowpoly version of the mesh with such bones !!

Well, I am not too sure about what you mean with that one.
If it is only for display- purposes, then I can live pretty well without it.
However if the area of influence could be controlled with the shape of te bone more precisely, then I am all for it!

If the shape of bones could deform your model it can be a great tool.

If it is just to display something more visual you can actualy use weightmaps on multiple objects on an other layer and make it deform by your character bones. Like a fake multimesh low poly character.

I like the idea a lot, Emmanuel. I'd use it for character animating.

Now that I have a better view on what is meant here I can honestly say that I can easily live without it. But hey, if you guys want it I'm all for it ! :D

I really miss a shaded view for bones in Layout, easier to see/grab then the wire.
Defenetly a plus IMHO
