Can anyone recommend a good 27" monitor without the Anti-glare coating. I see that the Apple has a 27" monitor coming out in September, but are there any other ones around that have a 2560x1440 screen? I'm trying to stay within the $2000 range if possible.

Dell have one, but that's glare as well. NEC have just recently released onw which should hit the market soon:

HP have also just released a new 30" which could be worth a look (it's in the same price range).

Oops, I missed that. Yeah, wtf? :D

Heck, I wear black and work at night and still wouldn't want to have glare...

Glare s*cks, my Asus laptop has glare and I see more of my surroundings sometimes than from my code :(.

Glare is not a problem because I place my monitor where the room light is behind it.

I recently purchased a Dell ultrashrap U2711, and the A/G coating was so granny that it interfered will my Global Illumination setting in that I wasn't sure if the grainiest of the image was from the A/G coating or the GI setting.

I wasn't until I displayed the image on an Apple 24" monitor, that I realized that the problem was with the A/G coating and not my GI settings.

I hope this clarifies things a bit.

Had glare monitor screens once, returned them the day after. The problem is not the sun/light shining into them, they actually have less issues with that than anti-glare, it's the light shining onto you, the drapes, the walls. I sure got fed up seeing myself in it all the time.

But there is quite a demand for glare screens, try getting a laptop without :| Or those big Apple screens, seem all glare too..

You could still get an Apple 30 inch display for less than that ($1799) :)

It's only 24-bit though... and by the looks of it one gen behind current offerings (NEC, HP and the upcoming Dell).
That and the NEC as well as the HP cost less.

Mike
