View Full Version : Question about LF-Thicken plugin

08-14-2010, 02:22 PM

Does anyone know what the "Offset 50%/20%/10%/5%/1%" feature does in the LF_Thicken plugin?

I have been playing around with the plug and it doesn't seem to do anything.

Great plug by the way. Seems to work without issues in LW9.5 w/o any headaches for really complex parts.

Think of it as sensitivity for the mouse drag.

If the base is at 1.0 and you have 50% highlighted then a mouse move will change the offset by 0.5 if you had 1% highlighted then a mouse move will change the offset by 0.01

Works for me in 9.6, you getting an error in 9.6?

Thanks for your reply LightFreeze!

No problems with it at all as I can see right now. I was not thinking that the Offset was mouse related and was working purely numerically via the textbox. So naturally, nothing happened when I just clicked on the different percentages. Now I know why! :)

Only one POSSIBLE issue, but not sure yet, is that it separated the result into 7 separate objects that were not connected with each other. These were in fact 7 separate objects to begin with that were Boolean Union'd together earlier (before the thicken). So I am checking to see if this was a problem in the original model because it is very complex and might have been failing at those points already.

I have no idea where the LF Thicken plugin even is. Care to elaborate?

It was actually created by LightFreeze. You can find it in this thread for download:

Make sure you go to the bottom of page 2 for the final version (at least up to 2006).

I wrote it when Thickener stopped working, does the same thing just a wee bit differently

Ahhh.... I see. Pretty cool, seems that LF's Thicken & Blochi's Thickener are very similar... Cool beans...

Thanks treddie.

And yea, the %'s do seem affect the mouse sensitivity, Nice one LightFreeze.
