View Full Version : Ray Intersect node memory issues ...

Hey there Denis

Sorry to be a nodal pest here lately but the more I do with them the more I dig them & consequently come up against issues.

In this example I used the Ray Intersect node to measure distances between discrete poly tree billboards (around 7000 of them) & the terrain they sit on which then gets simply plugged as shading. All worked like a treat & as expected.

My only issue is that when I try to render this the memory just keeps climbing & climbing till LW just freezes. If I disconnect the Ray Intersect node memory is just fine.

Not sure if this is a bug or if I'm using the node in just the wrong context. The billboards do rotate to face the camera, using poly face node, but even when that's disabled the memory climbs.

PS: Do you prefer to get these nodal reports/issues here at the forums or directly to your email ?

Not a bug for me,
rather its limit, considering
extra geometry data needed
for Ray Intersect calculation.

Cheers for the answer Denis.

I guess I'll have to try a different approach, which in this instance is easy enough

I fixed a memory issue for both Boolean and Ray Intersect nodes
in the last x32 version of DPKit.

Cheers a bunch Denis.
I don't know what I'd do without nodes (yours in particular) these days :D
