View Full Version : C4D style object buffers? (alphas for individual objects)

I am trying to do some compositing in AE and was curious if there is a way to get Lightwave to output individual alpha channels for objects. I know you can set a material to have a certain alpha but I need a separate alpha file output for an individual object. In C4D you can use Buffer ID's for individual objects and it will output an alpha for each Buffer ID for compositing later. Effectively it's a separate pass for just an alpha of a certain object.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. By the way, I'm running v9.6.

ah passes......per object........**dreaming**

quick and dirty way in lw is to assign a matte color to each object, object properties>render>matte object. hopefully there aren't too many objects in your scene. then in ae use the matte pass as an alpha mask.
