I am trying to figure out what I need to do in order to make the video sharper and clearer.

I videoed a half hour show, saved it on TriCaster as a wmv video. But when I brought it into Vegas Pro for editing the picture looked blurred and somewhat out of focus.

I did record it on the camera's tapes and those look crip and clear.

Is there any special settings or another format I can save it as to getit to look like I have on the tapes.

Thanks,
Jeff

sounds like it is your setting on your WMV profile are to low... increase the bit rate and it will get better. Granted the file you have already can not be fixed you will need to recapture and then re-encode.

WMV is not really intended for editing or post-production purposes. You'd do better to use the much higher quality MPEG-2 Record feature.

Thank you both for your replies.

I think I will try the MPEG-2 format and see what happens.

Just glade I had it on tape also.

You'll want to test this in advance, but I suspect Vegas will load the Regular profile only. Someone else may be able to confirm one way or the other.

FYI: I have Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9 and I can open my MPGs.... I think this last batch was all the studio profile-but can't remember now. is there an easy way to tell?

GSpot or MediaInfo (both free) would likely tell you.

OK, all mine are 4:2:0.. I'll have to test this. Steve, thanks for the pointer to those two apps, they will come in handy. BTW, I didn't find the chroma sampling info in GSpot, but it was in mediainfo.

FYI: I finally recorded a 4:2:2 video and was able to successfully open it in Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0.
