View Full Version : Render an HDRI spherical map from an 3D scene

This is probably incredibly obvious, but I hunted all over the net and the LW manuals and couldn't find an answer.

I've created a 3D environment in lightwave that I want to render as a single 360 degree panoramic image for use as an HDRI spherical map in another application (the Trapcode Horizon plugin in After Effects, if you're curious!).

Does anyone know how to do this? I assume you could use a custom Advanced Camera setup, but can't work it out. It seems like the kind of thing for which there would just be a export plugin.

Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

Ah, I think I've worked it out. Use advanced camera and set horizontal and vertical FOV to "Cylinder", with 360 and 180 degrees respectively.

I've been using this plugin 'EvironmentBakingCamera' to create
Equirectangular projections - the same used in the sIBL lighting solution by Christian Bloch.

I can't remember now, where I got it from or who created it. but it works well. - set camera frame width to double height and save as .exr
