Guys, my companies produce nearly 1000 sporting events for college, high school, pro, you name it. We're a Newtek product based firm with 10 total employees. So, the most commonly asked question is... how do you make money?

Secondly, the technical questions flow, such as:

How do you insert a shot clock?
How many cameras do you use on a particular sport?
What do you pay talent?
How do you find internet access for streaming?
How many people do you have in the truck?
Do I need a truck?
... the list goes on.

To start this thread, here's a look at a behind the scenes of one of productions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6y_nrXYWV0

So, who do you produce for? Can you find a revenue stream to support your productions? Have you left your day job yet?

First i think, it is most important which country. Your are in USA/India, so the only way how do you make money are local TV Stations.

In Germany we need for this Event like the Video, 3 Cameras, 5-6 Persons and the production-costs incl. LIVE transmission per Satellite are about min. $7000 for 90 Minutes. The German national TV-Stations have 12-15 Person with 6-7 High-speed Cameras, etc. and cost about $22,000 per Sportevent.

So what are your calculation?

We generate more revenue from webcasting. The successful business model requires you employ the required staff, avoiding freelancers. We have capitalization of $300,000 and charge 3000$ per day. This is a 4 camera shoot, 3 play, fully cg'd, 4 canon xl2's, robot, with commercial's firedfrom truck or remotely at a stations mc. For telecast on our cable network, add 500$. We're never beat on price and spin 30-35 percent edbita. The key: full utilization of resources ditching the old model.
