I have an ocean with waves based on procedural displacement with nodes.
And I have a wake, that should roll over the waves, which displacement is
based on an image, also node-based.

But I donīt want the waves to interfere with the wakes and just add on top
of the wakes. Instead I would like the wake (image-based) to dominate
where they are visble. The wake should instead eliminate the ordinary waves.

Canīfind out the right method. Any ideas?

check out the whirlpool animation here might give you an idea.

Try different blending modes between the procedural and image based texture or creating an alpha.

Thanks Danner, that Whirlpool demo was great. So gradients seems to be
one solution for mixing different displacements.

And thanks SplineGod for reminding me of blending. Maybe that is the easiest
route. I will try it.
