On the Mac, there's an included program that will eyedropper a pixel or average a group of pixels and show the RGB values.

Is there anything like this for Win7?

Thanks Nick!

But, I generally try to go for the unfortunately false security of a tool a lot of folks are familiar with (it just takes one 'blue pill' root kit to ruin your day).

Jovian http://www.joviancolorpicker.com/ has the ability to pick a pixel or a sample from a group of pixels, and work as a color picker for Photoshop, etc. as well as Lightwave - so it seems perfect for this task.

Yeah I was gonna suggest Jovian too but it sounded like you wanted an external app.

Glad you found Jovian, it's really cool.

Jovian can apparently run as a free-standing external app, as well as take over as LW's color picker - so it seems perfect.

I'm going to have to compare it to SG_CCTools http://www.newtek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82605 and see if I notice any difference in LW. Never hurts to have two tools anyway.
