I have run into this problem on a couple different occasions. I'm applying multiple textures to the same surface using different UV mapping cooridinates. I am texturing a head and then applying other textures to the lips and around the eyes. However, when I add a layer for the lips, it creates some garbage that I cannot get rid of. Attached is an image of the problem.
