A capsule shaped object with incidence angle on luminosity and transparency?

You could try the old spinning trick.

@shrox: in that tutorial he doesn't tell you how.. mm i cant explain it
in these pictures his one, the black part of the lazier mesh is transparent
and in my one the black part is not, and i don't know how to make it transparent like his

one thing that confuses many new lightwave users is the use of alpha channels on textures. The alpha channel does not make the object transparent, it lets you see the other textures or colors of that surface. You need to apply a separate image (a black and white image not an alpha enabled image) on the transparency channel.

Or a clip map, or geometry with pretty good luminosity and glow enabled.

I was thinking about this one and there's a good lightning tutorial on YouTube that you could adapt to make a lazer beam using a 2 point poly chain.

I took an example I created the tutorial and straightened it and it makes a cool looking lazer beam. It could be made even more linear, but I just did a 5 second change on it and was suprised at the results. (see the original and the straightened one attached)

The tutorial for the lightning is here.

No go on the glow, it will glow the edges of the object where it is supposed to be transparent.
