Hi there.
Ok, so shameless self-promotion time.
I have some new videos out on www.liberty3d.com

My latest is here (http://liberty3d.com/2010/07/advanced-space-scene-creation-volume-one-fast-nebula-creation-techniques/)

Also check out QuadPanels and other videos on Zbrush, lighting and rendering, VFX in Lightwave and more to come soon!

All training videos are Instant Downloads, so you don't have to worry about waiting for shipping of DVDs, Customer Services problems (but we are here to help just in case! no problems there) or any other hassles. We really appreciate your support and thank you for stopping by. The site is just now a month old officially (fancy that the timing of the dates... :) ) and we hope you join us over there on our forums and check it out for news on new tools, training videos, freebies and other goodies.

Take care and thanks again everyone for being so positive and supportive thus far.

Happy Kat =^..^=

I wonder if I can find some interesting techniques in those nebula creation vids?..curious about hidden techniques.

Im not sure if I ever tested any fog techniques, My Nebulas are mostly
textured environment combined with Hv sprites or some volume nebula and
some light comps from after effects, as shown in attached image compilation.

other than that You can always just paint nebula, for static ones or use
procedural textures on geometry ala Dave Jerrard.

keep up the good work with the site, even thou I haven´t had a need for those training materials yet, but who knows later on, the topics are interesting anyway.

Geometry is a good, fast and generally high-quality solution and I have used that in the past and will demonstrate those techniques in the second installment along with some other things including HVs.

Thanks again dude.
One other thing, Liberty3d.com (http://www.liberty3d.com) is more than training vids and that was the intention from the start. The first official Liberty3D tool is James Willmott's "QuadPanels" for LightWave Modeler (http://http://liberty3d.com/2010/06/quadpanels-fast-easy-detailing-for-scifi-meshes/) if you haven't checked that out. It's totally killer that's for sure and its getting regular updates and so far anyone who has tried it that I am aware of has bought it and its certainly affordable at $20.00USD a pop. Remember, all of the sales from anything on there goes directly to the Artist or the Coder who makes the stuff so we certainly appreciate your support, even if it is just to stop by and say hi or check things out. We have more stuff on the way from tools to training to textures and beyond.

The Liberty3d.com site isn't "my site" or any of the Citizens either, its everyone's site in the Lightwave3D community and is intended for you guys to help shape in the way you see fit guided by the principles of Freedom of Information, free trade and commerce on fair terms and ground.

It's been such a pleasure over the last month or so since it launched working with everyone involved and seeing the outpouring of support in these troubling times in the LightWave3D community and elsewhere.
We really appreciate it, I appreciate it and the site is a continued thanks to everyone who appreciates the same.

Cheers and enjoy!

Kat

Yes, QuadPanels is a must-have purchase for all Lightwave users, especially at that price!

Kelly, you repetedly say you won an Emmy and have I am guessing lead other artists to believe this as well on liberty3d when it is simply not true.

"Kelly Lee Myers is an Emmy award winning VFX artist living in Vancouver -."

How you can continue to do this is simply an outrage.

Ah, I see you are back again...

Here is a link to the honors certificate which I have. I have never made any claims otherwise. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5114/CCI20100601_00000.JPG

I have never said I have a statue, I have never said I have been nominated or present at the awards. I have always made it very clear what I have and have never hidden it nor jumped up and down about.

Since I don't know who you are - and since you wont actually say who you are, yet I am out here in the open while you and several others continue to take cheap shots at me - it says a lot about you rather than me.

You what's a real outrage? You not telling the rest of us who you are.

Wow - maybe you could re-phrase that into some kind of personal attack instead of being so nice?

If BattleStar won an Emmy and he worked on it, that's enough for me.

His videos (I own a bunch of them), are very well done.

If you have personal issues with him, I don't think a public forum is the proper place to express them. Email him and work it out there.

See that's just the trick isn't it? I don't even know who this D-Os person is. The timing of all of this is incredible suspect. Why don't you tell us who you are? Zimmerman? D-Os??
Who are you?

I think it's best dealt with by following the sage example of Rock God Aldous Snow, who if faced with a post by the Maître d'OS, would have said in his very British accent:

"I was gonna respond to that .... but then, um, I just carried on living my life.

When it rains it pours.

Just got a private email saying a Lightwave user has created a 3dWannable.com site, and it's NOT me.

They've stolen by pseudonym, as their first post was right after I bought my LW license and signed up here! Down here in Texas that's a hangin' offense!

I'm probably going to get blamed for some weird stuff (and I already do a lot of weird stuff to get blamed for already).

As Gahan Wilson would say: "Is nothing sacred?

I think that is a pretty generic name, did some quick checking and I see that the domain name was actually registered back in 2007 (two years before you signed up to the forum). Most likely the owner just got around to using it.

I was actually being a bit facetious (well, except for the part about "being a hangin' offense", of course - as that's the official state sport).

It's easy to take things too seriously, especially things beyond our control.

We should really take to heart the immortal words of the great philosopher David Lee Roth - who gave us two little rules to live by:

Rule #1. Don't sweat the little ****.

Rule #2. It's ALL little ****!

What is the official state sport of Texas? Is there even such a thing? I remember armadillo dodging on the freeways being up there, but never thought it got anywhere to like a "state" level. Died out I guess, kind of like Hialeah or however its spelled.
