UDK aka Unreal Engine 3-- Is there a way i can model in lightwave and import it into Unreal? it would make my game-engine messing-around-with go a lot smoother :D

also-- Am i right about the Unreal Engine 3 being the UDK or have i got it wrong?

As far as I know, the "ActorX" plugin only works for/with the latest couple of versions of Maya and 3DS Max. A loooong time ago (perhaps Unreal 1 and Tournament 1?), I *think* there was a fairly strong link between it and Lightwave, but Autodesk (IIRC) "managed to convince Epic to use their stuff instead" (I won't go into it here; just hit the net and search for 'Autodesk' and 'buisiness practices', and perhaps 'lawsuits').

Oh, and yes, AFAIK, UDK is Unreal Engine 3, but without the support and all that nice stuff.

I've also read that the latest release of UDK supports fbx, but I haven't tested that at all.
Am i right about the Unreal Engine 3 being the UDKYou're close enough ^_^
UDK is a binary release of Unreal 3 with a different license (and price). If you got Unreal 3, you would get the source code of all the engine libraries and editors that make up UDK.

You can also use the Collada exporter native to 9 to export animated meshes, as I have had those work in unreal 3. It doesn't support more than one UV map per face, but that's okay for a skeleton I think....
