View Full Version : Bakable MGO?

Now I could have sworn there was a change made somewhere in 9.6 (or later) I saw mentioned that allowed for motion baking/keying of an item using match goal orientation...

Or did I just imagine it/see it in a dream??

You can use Simple Orient constraint or Same as item, as this gives the same effect (if your goal doesn't use Pivot Rotation) and this is bakeable.

Perhaps someone was demonstrating Petter Sundnes aka MentalFish's Motion Baker? It should be able to bake anything as it's a generic script and not a motion modifier itself (like the native one), so it's not subject to the limitations of the motion modifier architecture (read: when and what it can evaluate).

Nevermind. I suspect nothing can bake MGO as it seems to do the same thing non-fulltime IK does. They use some wierd proprietary motion modification system. Ie old-team-style completely unfathomably poor I'll-just-hack-it software design implementation (Sorry. But it's not all good!).

I'm not sure where you got the impression that something changed but perhaps it was this statement: "Update Bake-able Match Goal Orientation for IK Booster" from http://www.newtek.com/lightwave/highlights.php

If indeed that is true perhaps IKB simply calculates the orientation by itself!? I don't see how a plugin can get at the natively generated MGO or non-fulltime IK rotation.
