Speed Modeling Challenge #85 - Wrapped up
*************************************************
Rules:

1. Every week there will be a subject for you to model along with a time limit. You should spend no longer than the allocated time, then post a render of your model. As in most challenges like this, your honesty on modelling times is essential. How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what is asked for.
2. Post a render of your model (min 800x600 pixels) in this thread with a wireframe.
3. LightWave should be used for modelling. 3rd party Plug ins are allowed.
4. You can enter as many times as you like, posting each in this thread. If you run over the time, the model can still be posted but won't be subject to the judging.
5. Time spent on texturing, setting up a scene for a render and rendering is not included in the allocated period.

*************************************************

This week's topic: Wrapped up

Again, open to interpretation; sweet wrappers, packaging, whatever the heck you feel like. Gosh!

Time Limit - 60 minutes.

Deadline - Wednesday 16th June 2010, 2200 GMT

I'm up to my eyes for the week ahead so here's my entry. The world's most exciting wrapper?

(Modelling time: 14 seconds :hey:)

wow, I can't ever get my floor textures to look that good. Was the wood separate geometry?

Iain

Yes its geometry. It was a school desk I modelled for a previous challenge.

I tried an experiment. I wanted at least the beginnings of a mummy, and since I used a Makehuman model in the background as dress form, my mummy is fairly buxom!

Unfortunately, I couldn't do enough within the hour so that the bandages would clearly show a female shape. So I added my dress form, for illustration purposes. Feels like a failure to me.

Within the time limit by seconds, anyway.

Who says she's dead? I prefer to embalm them while they're still wriggling!

Cool idea! and nice job.

I did my Moleskine sketchbook which has the elastic wrap around it. About 50min for modeling time and then another 2hrs or so for texturing and lighting. I did a few scans as well for the textures.

Here's mine.
Took me about 55 mins and way more to texture.
Thought I'd give myself an early daddyday present ;)

Well, not the greatest number to choose from but, even with JeffrySG's amazing sketchbook model and render, chco2 topped it with a perfect looking ribbon and bow.

Congrats Chco2

** oops: special mention to Nangleator too. Very cool idea and great execution! **

Congrats Chco2, yeah, good work with that bow.

I didn't have the time to make something this week.I did, but it sucked hard, so no entry from me. Very nice render from Jeffry, and I always applaud a bit of undead boobies.
