Hmmm, got curious from another thread. Mind if we take a poll to see what people are making in the industry? Please only vote if you are making money doing some form of CGI work. If you do it part time, just mark the ballot based on the income received from CGI work. Amounts are, of course, annualy.

It'll be difficult to get an accurate impression of wages outside the U.S. as it depends on the cost of living in various countries. Also, the U.S dollar is on the downward slope.

Well, you have to have SOME point of reference...

There is also a huge difference in wages for East and West Coasts, right? I knew guys back East starting under $30K for an entry level gaming job, and out here in CA, for the same type position, starting around $50K a year...

The buck's on the downslide. A few more hits, and we'll almost be where all the other currency is... :D

Somebody's making over 75K? Bloody bourgeoisie, if I earned that sort of money I'd make my butler do the work while I was sipping iced tea on the lawn - holding the glass with my little finger sticking out... :D

Well, this poll is really a tad pointless for all the reasons said above, unless you make the poll related to the country. (eg. "How much do you get paid working in the USA?")

The 'Big Mac' index is a good example of global economical differences... We pay NZ$7.95 for a Big Mac combo meal, I know when I was in the UK some 10+ years ago, I paid 3 pounds (NZ$9.00 at the time)...

Another example, I pay up to NZ$1.50 for a can of coke (US$0.70), In the UK, its probably (I'm guesstimating) like 1 pound (US$1.57), and when I was in the US some 10 years ago, I paid like US$1 for about 2 litres of coke at the Buena Vista mall which is probably equivalent of like 8 cans of coke!

If I then ran a poll that said 'How much do you pay to refresh your thirst while rendering?', you can imagine the results will be totally skewed because every country will be different, and it would be impossible to really judge who was paying a bargain price for coke, and who was paying too much! :)
