View Full Version : Merging Separate Alpha sequences

I have always used 32 bit TGA files to output renderings so I can have an embedded alpha image within the file. I use After Effects, so it is usually very easy to interpret alphas that way.

I have this job I am working on and the client wants to change the color of a single material, so I set up the scene to isolate that part via alpha channel and rendered it as a separate sequence. I would have re-rendered the entire scene, but it would take too long.

I need to merge the new alpha with the original sequence so I can isolate the material, then change the hue to match the new mock-up that was approved by my client. Anyone know how to do this? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Use the new alpha sequence as a track matte.

place the one with the alpha on top of the original, select the original, go to layer/track matte/use alpha.
