I am making multiple UVs for one surface because it is too complicated to unwrap as one piece.

Eventually I want to merge the multiple UVs into one UV so I am not forced into breaking up the surface for each map.

I tried using Lightwaves copy and paste UV functions but I'm not having any luck with them. All I can seem to do is paste one UV into a blank UV, am I missing something?

Would a plugin be a better solution?

why didn't you start with a single UV to begin with? select a group of poligons, make the UV, move them out ot the way on your UV view, select other poligons, add them to the UV, move them out of the way..

Sorry, I am a bit new to UV mapping.

In the past I just broke up the object in surfaces and it just so happened the UV maps worked great for each surface. I got lucky then because the objects were simple.

I just did what you mentioned and had a "duh" moment, thanks for the help.

i had an issue like this once. If you unweld the points first, copy and past uvs, then weld the points back together that should help. thats what we did anyway. save a copy of what you have in case your model explodes in a fit of rage.
