HI all, I need some help figuring something out. I'm working on graphics for an iPhone game. The developer is having me do backgrounds, and Objects with alpha channels. One of the objects involves a boat. He's basically having me render 3d objects, and he's using them as 2d renderings with alpha's. The problem is he wants a ship to have an animated wake front, and back. It would have to be part of the 3d ship I would render with the alpha channel. What he does is just lay these objects over the background, and move them along. Any ideas how I could make this wake? Don't need a lot of detail as it will be very small.

Could model some poly strips and run displacement through them.

How detailed/realistic do you have to get?

Not very realistic. I think I'm going to render a particle effect separate from the ship, one for the front, and one for the back with alpha channels. He said he can resize them, and parent them to the 2d rendering.
