View Full Version : Combining Weight Maps

Although I'm getting the results I need by trial and error, I'm not understanding why they're working the way they are.

So I have two weight maps, the 100% parts of which do not coincide, and I want them combined to control the opacity of a Mixer node.

I thought an Add node would do it, which it kind of does, but not very well. The effect I expected was actually got using a Multiply node.

Which is the thing I don't get, because if the 100% of one is multiplied by the 0% of the other, surely the result would be 0%? But it isn't, it's 100%.

Not sure if I understand what you're doing, but anyway, a scalar output gives you a number. Also in the case of the output of a weightmap node, it gives you a number, not a percentage. 0% weight = 0, 50% weight = 0.5, 100% weight = 1, 200% weight = 2, etc.

OK - thanks.

Actually, I just realised what I did ..... I put invert nodes too soon in the chain ..... now Add gives the result I expected :)

Bit of a red face moment there :D
