Aloha,

I have been working on a new plugin for messiah 4.5 and I can't wait to show this off to you guys. The link is to a video by Wegg that shows how it works with LightWave.

Looks quite easy.

Question. I haven't looked at messiah in some time. Doesn't messiah already do this in a way when you use it as a host plug-in or does it not do that any longer?

There are actually a number of ways of communicating between Lightwave's Layout and Messiah. Their history goes way back. fastMDD is just a more streamlined approach.

So, how is this faster than previous connections between Mess and LW? I did watch that Trex vid but not sure what is different.

Its actually slower than the plugin but more reliable. Especially when you get to the network rendering stage of your production. What the video doesn't show is how easy it is to select multiple characters/objects and it re-compiles all the mdds in a single pass unlike the older "native" messiah mdd tools that require you to set up a batch process.

Point Oven from Mark Wilson is actually the coolest way to use .mdd. Its not faster, but has more options. Aaaaannnd costs a fair bit more than what we are intending to release fastMDD for.
