Like the title says, I'm curious about sound effects and everything related to sound...
Which programs do you use to create sound for your animations, do you make it yourself or some sound wiz makes it for you.
How to get started when making sound effects etc.

I either use SonicFire Pro, my synthesiser or a good old fashioned microphone & recorder when recording my own sound effects.

For instance, I discovered that squashing a fork through tuna mixed with tomato ketchup produces that awesome squelchy sci-fi/Alien sound!

just took a listen to the dimension pro...err...YUK:devil: sounds simply disgustingly rubbish to me.....the basses are horrible and the "real basses" all have a hi pitched noise along with them...not nice at all.

how they dare to charge $249 is beyond me...horrible soft synth sounds.

of course i prefer real analogue and wavetable based sounds..but heythat's probably just cos of my 'age' and not liking the plastic sounding crap we're shoveled by current japanese synth makers

i must observe that having been out of the synth loop for 15 years or so i'm pretty disapointed by what's on offer....good job the germans still know how to make a synth. :D

Armpit and palm.

Refried beans and hotsauce will get you the actual sound. Why use a sound effect when you can use the actual sound? And as a bonus the fragrant aroma that comes with it. A natural repellent when you want your space and don't want to rudely ask others to leave. They spontaneously volunteer.

Running an M-Audio Delta 1010 LT with an M-Audio Axiom 61 Midi controller and a pair of M-Audio Studiophile AV 40 speakers. Oh and a couple of old Shure mics...a SM63L AND ASM67.
Just tinkering though....nothing serious.

I use a shotgun mike on my Sony PMW EX3 and steal the sound from the video.
It sucks in some really nice sound.
