sorry, meant to post it here.

Hey Folks! here is a quite short spaceship scene. The environment and smoke are all LW while the spaceship itself is Modo. This was to test having both programs work together on one render.

I love the design of that little guy. Great modeling and texturing.

I really like the lighting on the scene as well. The composting doesn't do it for me though, particularly the smoke. It has that layered on top look.

Very cool. the The ship remembers me of Massimiliano Frezzato's ships.

Cheers

Love the colour grading, as well. Is there any chance of posting a wireframe of the scene? Impressed by the depth and very interested to see how the clouds and buildings where achieved. The texturing of the water with the reflections is gorgeous!

Thanks for all the great comments everyone!

Here is the screen shot for the environment. Just a little back story... The environment was originally created for an Oreo advertising on the center building of NY times square in which a helicopter dunked an oreo into a glass of milk held by lady liberty. I wanted to add it to my reel but the screens were very non standard and in any case I felt like sci-fing it a bit :)
Liberty started as a game model (might have been brought in from google earth as ref, really cant remember) and re-created in mudbox.

What did you use to color grade the footage? Program/Settings?

Hey Tippsy I used fusion 5.2 for comp and color correction.

Sweet, I had forgot to mention that I absouletly love that look! Really just amazing work.

Also do you think you can achieve the same look in AE or Preimere Pro, or are there specialized tools in fusion that really help with achieving that look?

the last week i'm going to NY and i've see the liberty statue.
your recostruction is fantastic but there is a big error.
the position (http://maps.google.it/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=it&geocode=&q=new+york&sll=44.949249,11.57959&sspn=5.605662,9.854736&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=New+York,+Manhattan,+New+York,+Stati+Uniti&ll=40.688969,-74.039311&spn=0.012138,0.02738&t=h&z=16)of the island and the statue have a bug.

He, he, yeah we took a lot of artistic licence since we wanted the statue to be lit a certain way and still have control over the position of the NY skyline. Its really nice to know that its still playing on the screens (or is it?). It was a hell of a lot of work.

@lewis: yep HD instance always saves the day!

Breathtaking stuff! :thumbsup:Love sciene mood, East side of Manhattan's skyline instead of Battery Park and downtown) in reference to Statue of Liberty. Absolutely amazing, I need to dig into Fusion tutorials on a spare time.
