View Full Version : Part Surface node? (Akin to DPkit 'Part Move' node

Hi There

I have some 3d text that I've animated using the DPKit displacement 'Part Move' node, which derives an ID for each individual letter (all located on a single layer) using the 'Part info' node (also under displacement). Thus each letter can be separately controlled.

However, I also wish to colour each letter separately. I was hoping to use the same trick in the surface editor: node editor. However, there is no 'Part surface' type node that I'm aware of... ? As far as the surface editor is concerned, it seems to think each polygon corresponds to a separate part when using 'part info'.

Since I intend to animate a large number of these text elements, I really hope to find a relatively automated way to achieve this.

Any thoughts?

Connecting 'index' output from PartInfo into gradient input indeed behaves strange but if You use 'index' from PartMove it works as it should.
