hi,

I'm basically a LW noob, so bare with me! I have a problem installing nodes for the RMAN procedural textures pack http://pagesperso-orange.fr/dpont/plugins/Textures.htm

I've installed the plugin fine, and played with it in the surface editor - but when i go to use nodes, they are no where to be found.

When i download the nodecollect file off the page, where should i put it in my LW directory? I thought installing nodes was the same as installing plugins.. But the file is not a 'plugin file' (.p) instead its just a 'file'.

Tried renaming it and using add plugin - didnt work... and tried import nodes function, which didnt work either.

What have i done wrong?

- The pack is very cool though

There is separate plugin for the nodes, you need to install it too.

Soth,

Looks like I cannot instal nodes for 32 bit LW (even after adding .p to the filename), you might need to email the author and try to use x64 bit version in the meantime.

Thanks for checking that out. I can't get 32 or 64 bit node plugins working on my machines. I'll contact the author. Thanks again.

Ahh! Thank you! That works  I've let Denis know to have a look at this thread - so hopefully it will be fixed for any others experiencing the problem.

Soth, may be that you didn't look at the legal stuff
in the readme file of the RmanNodeCollect plugin,
but you are not allowed to re-distribute this plugin,
You should not ignore the rights of the author(s)
but respect them and remove this attachment
from this forum.

Denis.

A personal apologize and a proper express of why this conflict started
and how to avoid similar conflicts in the future would be in order for
the good health of the lightwave community.

well..soth, I can understand that you wanted to help out as fast you could etc, and if you missed the rules of distributing the dponts nodes and textures, itīs very easy thou to apologize and carry on from that.

and thanks dpont for all your wonderful procedurals textures and nodes for
the time they were up and running.
I hope you sort it out someway for the benifit of all and yourself especially
for future projects.

Michael

maybe payed plugins?
DPont would certainly benefit from it.
if i have to pay to stop DPont from stopping, sure, no problemos :]

I guess so he cannot sell other people work, in this case Renderman shaders and textures.. Unless Renderman shaders license allow this..

true, but it's not all Renderman shaders and textures, though (?)

i don't know. suggestions are welcome.
shouldn't this "war" be between Soth and DPont, and not against newbies that haven't been able to download the plugins?
this makes me sad for the newbies.

Wow - I'm sad the site is down!

Even though I'm really a neophyte at Lightwave compared to everyone else, I could appreciate what great work he was doing for the LW community - and hope whatever triggered his disappearance gets resolved.
