I hope you enjoy it. :)

Really? Wow, that's pretty impressive. Is there any more info on the making of this?

Timmy, do you like movies about gladiators?

This is one of the first tests with the "Simple Skin" node and Fiber.
Creating the characters was the most difficult.

Wonderful, that looks outstanding for work done in Lightwave. I couldn't help think it might look better if it was done in LCS as some of the dark recesses looked a little dark for daylight.

I know there are many things to improve, but we are very few people and too little time to do the job. I'll consider your opinion in future jobs, thanks.

Super stuff

The FiberFX really looks great on the men...but a bit funny on the woman with long hair...but nice stuff!!

How long will the film be....is it a short or feature length film?

Keep at it :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Final test of the Simple Skin node, I've turned off reflection and added specular texture. This is a final shot.

Could you give us an idea of the total production time? (ie. how long have you been working on it so far)

Four people, huh? Pretty large production for so few.
Very intense movie with just as intense a workload, it would seem. l really like the boldness of execution.
Keep at it and I really hope you have some earning percentage on the movie: could make you lots of money!
(I know: with labors of love it's not about the money. uh huh)

It really is a matter of technique. We are used to perform work at this rate of production.
Not a question of numbers of workers, but the quality of them. With a good technique an artist does the work of four.
Only 2 animators are capable of producing over a minute a week on a working day.

Ah!, The film will be freely distributed.

One capture of Lightwave in action. Note the Mdd in the public for apply animation time variations.
Another important issues is the rig configurations, improving the time to create animation.

In what areas could LightWave have been improved
that would have helped in your production.

dmind

This production has been delayed several times due to problems in the historical part of the script which affected primarily the modeling and texturing.

If we remove the stops and delays in production, real production time is one year and a half aproximately. Our challenge is to perform a minimum of one minute of animation per week.

Principally, the layout refresh when there are many animated characters with bones (this problem isn´t in 9.3.1) and the FFx stability.

If you haven't mentioned it to Newtek in a Fogbugs report, I would go down to the 9.6.1 beta testing area in the forum and mention it again there. It would be nice to have this fixed before the end of the 9.x series!

All these problems and some others are already in FogBugz.
We hope any solution, specially to problem with the bones because there is some scenes with about 1000 animated characters.

Great project and its free?
I hope you're in hc. Fog all those ffx,etc issues. This project is huge and will surely encounter lots of bugs in lw other's might not experience.

Not even Maya, which is known for its strengths in performance regarding CA, is actually usable with 1000 animated characters. NT have to perform some incredible miracles to LW, which isn't something I would count on regarding classic LW.

You guys should invest some time with HDInstance, because from what I've seen in your trailers, there are MANY shots that could have relied on HDI for the background characters.

Coll, great work.

HD Instance might really be a bit help.
