Hi All,
I'm struggling to find a way of driving bump (or normals) from a blended image map using a mixer node.

I've tried various conversions, but can't get anyhere - attached is where I am at present.

Any enlightenment on offer?

didn't applied the colors to make the bumps easier to see ...
the same bitmap is applied on both image nodes, but only the axis were different.

You can blend bump maps together using the standard mixer node, as you did SB, it's just that the bump and normal editors won't accept anything but a blue node output. So you can simply feed that output through a vector maths node first (like say add or subtract, but don't enter a value) then it will accept it. a colour mixer node (r,g,b) mixes up data the same as a vector one (x,y,z), it's just numbers :)

Also you don't need to use DP's bump->normal node really, if you subtract the bump map from a normal, that transforms it into a normal map.

Also, if you want to transform those bump maps to real normal maps, you can use the Nvidia free tool http://developer.nvidia.com/object/photoshop_dds_plugins.html for Photoshop (or PS plugin compatible apps).
