Speed Modeling Challenge #75 Fishing Stuff
*************************************************
Rules:

1. Every week there will be a subject for you to model along with a time limit. You should spend no longer than the allocated time, then post a render of your model. As in most challenges like this, your honesty on modelling times is essential. How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what is asked for.
2. Post a render of your model (min 800x600 pixels) in this thread with a wireframe.
3. LightWave should be used for modelling. 3rd party Plug ins are allowed.
4. You can enter as many times as you like, posting each in this thread. If you run over the time, the model can still be posted but won't be subject to the judging.
5. Time spent on texturing, setting up a scene for a render and rendering is not included in the allocated period.

**Please mention whether or not you would be happy to share the model.**

I was looking for examples of a boat... how about this one for a Trawler. Future Fishing. On quick question... do grenades count as fishing equipment?

I`m more of a traditionalist... Dynamite rather than hand grenade for me. :D

Great work Richard!

Something stinks in here!
Nice fish Richard-looks very convincing even as a wireframe.

An old reel. Inspired by my Rollei vintage German engineering project. About 50 minutes modelling.

You notice how Richard didn't include the time....I think he didn't want to freak people out...hehe. My guess is it's around the 15-20 minute mark :D

Iain...that's a super reel...I was hoping to see one of those :thumbsup:

Thanks.

Speaking of time, one topic for a future challenge could be a super speed challenge...10 minutes and under. Could be fun or interesting at the very least :D

What would you build in ten minutes though?
The Fish was around half an hour ish..:D
Nice work on the reel Iain, I would love to see a bit of fishing line on there too :)

Haha...not much I would think...but that would be part of the fun :D

Another good theme for a challenge would be to have polygon limits...1,000 or lower :hey:

ice fishing, for the only type of fish that was feasible in within the time limit and that coincidentally is very rarely caught on photo in the wild, the Pollachius Stickus :D

(The line was the last thing I did and that exceeded the time limit, the rest was inside. Allthough looking at everything afterwards, I swear I was abducted by aliens, there's no other explaination it could have taken that long.)

03-11-2010, 02:49 AM

Kuzey

We'll eventually get back to Wednesdays..one of these days...hehe.

Kuzey

We can have an overlap, let this one go to Friday and have Cresshead start his on Wednesday or Thursday.

That way, we can have the last minute models coming in...while finding reference images for the next challenge.

Just an idea :D

Whooh Mr. Richard..is that 90 min on modelling???:D,..obvious winner if it was:) ..now looking the thread back...even if its a fewer compare to older threads entrys..still hard to pick:)
but as the winner just one..

everyone done a great job, cobrasoft gears and master myagi's ice fishing stuff are very clean models. and nice work for sampei:thumbsup:, on my 1st try my object still looks like a boxy poly XD
if only Mr. Richard trolley's not exceeded 90 min mark:D..but for the complexity and modelling time taken...Mr Iain models are the best for this topic:)... so Mr Iain, congrats for your win ..

next chalengge is up...on to Mr cresshead threads:)....http://newtek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107454
