Hi all, my three year old Cinema display just died. (after warranty) I loved it so much :cry: I thought before I replace it I would ask if anyone has recommendations for monitors as good as or better. I do 3d/Motion/Editing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Dell 24” & 30”, they are possibly not quite as good as the Mac, but they have so many inputs plus height & rotation adjustment, & over all I have been extremely happy with them.

Check this one out...
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/605961-REG/HP_Hewlett_Packard_KD911A8_ABA_LP2475w_24_LCD_Comp uter.html

I love mine and I use it for Editing, 3D, photoshop the works. I got no complaints.
The other reviewers at B&H mostly agree...
Very happy with color setup using Spyder3.
Looked very close right out of the box though...

If you had the 30 inch Cinema Display, Eizo SX3031W is better and it's in the same price class. It's quick - 6ms gray to gray. Not bright but it has "perfect" colors.

anything that is 30 inch and easy to colour correct and cheap :P

Great suggestions guys, thanks. I'm looking at what the differences may be between the Apple Cinema and the Dell 30"
http://www.dell.com/content/topics/topic.aspx/global/products/monitors/topics/en/monitor_3007wfp?c=us&l=en

The difference in cost is nearly enough for me to buy an Ipad. (yes I know but I read a lot of blogs)

The 24" HP seems to be a great value though. Guess I need to borrow a 24" to see if I like it

I just assumed you were looking for the most bang for the buck...
the HP probably doesn't compare to some of the other monitors here in terms of performance, but for the price it probably can't be beat IMO.
I'd love to have that Eizo, but I need to sell a lot of jobs before I can defend that one...sure would be nice if you have the $$$ though!

Hi,
Are you sure it's completely dead? Did you try a new power supply. I had similar problems.

@CC Rider I really appreciate the 24" HP heads up. It is by far the best value. I'm reading though that it may not work with Macs, will have to dig deeper.

@bazsa73
yeah I'm taking it into the Mac store in the morning to see if they can do anything. Just getting my ducks in a row. My emergency monitor is wearing on me :)

I use my HP with an 8 core Mac Pro...getting ready to buy another one too.
I have it connected to the DVI input and I have another older monitor (which I'm replacing soon with another HP) connected to the apple mini display port through a DVI adapter. No problems for me yet...

We've got a apple and a dell screen both 30" in our studio and the dell looks better quality wise but it's a bit unstable and if your table isn't stable also your screen will dance a bit on it's place :) very not cool ;)

What about buying an iMac, slap on some anti glare film and you'll have a 27" monitor and a secondary computer :D

@bazsa73 You were right!
The guys at the mac store figured out it was a bad power cable and gave me a new one so I'm working again. Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I'm going to hope my moniter still works through this summer when new cinema displays are supposed to be released. If not, I'll probably get the dell 30" and the HP 24" for the price of one "getting dated" Apple Cinema. Thanks again, you guys rawk

Great List!
Lots of goodies on there. The HP dreamcolor for under 1,900 was very interesting.

I just bought this 27" HP monitor with my new HP Intel i7 Elite desktop...

The monitor only cost me $350. when I bought it with my desktop however I think its full price is in the $450 range. This monitor is Awesome! The richness in the colores is amazing. I'm actually waiting for my taxes and with my wifes permission, heh heh, I'm getting two more of these monitors to finish off my system...

Panel Type list.

Type in a name like NEC, hit search, get a massive list.

This is my monitor from that list:
NEC LCD2190UXp has a 21 inch 8 ms (g2g) S-PVA (Samsung LTM210M2) panel.

http://www.flatpanelshd.com/panels.php

It looks like this list hasnt been updated in a year.
But go to the front page and you'll see a list of current reviews.
