Is that REAL? Looks so CG to me...
We see so much CG that when we might be seeing something real we don't know...

YES, that was real! I got the opportunity to see it on a VERY large screen at CU/LASP since the EVE instrument was built and is ran by us. Sadly we ddid not get the Sun Dog view but did see the shock waves.

Heres a cool, for me, bit of trivia, every exploratory probe/observatory put out there has at least one instrument from CU on it.
Sad note, even with that distinction, several astronauts, 3 Nobel laureates in Physics (we have others in other departments as well) and no end to the other projects CU Physics is involved in the Physic complex at CU is old, small and just out of date. But hey we can spend several millions of dollars for a new visual arts building and even more for a new cultural living building. At least the new Bio/Chem Engineering building will pay for itself plus more in the end. Not that we're bitter or anything. Actually OK I am, but only because our new super-computer that we finally got all approved and financed for went belly up when Sun sold out to Oracle. Oh well enough whining back to coding.

That's pretty amazing footage. They captured a great moment.
