i knew it would happen one day, i just didn't know when.

i was at the hairdressers recently, and while getting my hair cut the hairdresser said "can i trim your eyebrows?"

this got me thinking about getting old.

while pondering my thoughts, she then got the electric clippers out and trimmed some hairs growing from my ears.

i have just boarded the "getting old train". lol

i am looking forward to next sign, i think.

"he looked kind of like you but young" <-- someone said that to me, that is when I knew I boarded that train.

Now everytime someone makes a fuss about my age I raise my cane menacingly.

I just turned 38 in December. And I thought 2 more years and I'll be 40.

That's ok though, because 40 is the new 36.

You did well to hold off until 41, I'm 33 and definitely an old git.

The real stake in the heart moment was at a gig last year. A friend's band were playing and there was a bunch of us hanging around the bar catching up, most of us hadn't seen each other for years. This very attractive woman walks past, double-takes at me, smiles and continues past with her friends. Some of the other guys spotted it and gave me a cheeky smile knowing that my girlfriend (standing next to me) hadn't clocked it. A few minutes later I felt a hand on my lower back and the woman appeared beside me, 'Are you Steve?'...'um, yeah?'....'I thought so, I'm Becca...remember me?...you know my dad'...At which point there was a lot of coughing and gulping from the guys at the bar and I was left with a flapping bottom jaw and very red cheeks, remembering the last time I saw her, about 15yrs previously when she was around 5yrs old.

Get over it you silly old bugger, 41? Buy a mens grooming device or sell the hair growing out of yer ears as... snuff? I'm %99 grey, older and waiting to go all white haired:thumbsup:

Grey is cool; kids (hairdressers) ask me all the time where the f did I get that colour from... the next sign is of course being old and obviously vain:)

i didn't include grey hair, because i started getting grey at 21. my dad is silver hair, and his dad is bone white. i am just waiting to see which i get.

when i was a teenager, i honestly thought that if i stay on a good diet that i won't age the same as others. boy was i wrong. i have 99.1% grey hair.

It probably means little. It's all in your genes good diet or not or maybe the family just wear you down to the wisdom of Solomon?

Old age is when you bend down to tie your shoelaces and you wonder what else you can do while you're down there.

does that mean bending down is o.k. but getting up is another thing altogether?

funny...just today i was walking and thinking that im starting to get old...already 30, i thought...and then i remembered that im 35.

should this be taken positively, as in that i look 30 and feel 30, or negatively as a sign of alzheimers?

the 'getting old train' seems to be getting more passengers around here.

plenty of room for everyone. wheelchair access too. napping allowed.

the more members, the merrier.

at work, one of the elder gentlemen, has a piece of string with a magnet on it. when he drops a tool or a part, he fishes the part back.
otherwise he just leaves it and gets another one.

You know you're getting older when the wife says, "Honey, let's run upstairs and make love"...
and your answer is, "You know I cannot do both".

other symptoms could include be statements like...

"The only time I want it twice is before I've had it once"

Damn kids these days. In my time, we wrote 'scripts' one line at a time on punch cards! I started a ray trace render in 1978... Chrome ball on a checkerboard... and it's just printing out now! It's an array of pixel addresses and RGB values on line printer paper.

You kids don't know how good you have it!

1989. 24 hours to render a 400x600 image of some crome balls on a checkered floor. On a 7.14Mhz Amiga 500.

I have around 32ghz (32000mhz) of rendering power at my disposal now. 4500 times more. crazy huh?
