When I put hair on my model and send it to layout to parent it to my model, it works when I move it around, but when I put bones later in modeler and then bring it to layout and move the bones around the head, the hair does not stay with the head, even after I parent it to the head, but without bones, it stays on the head. Am I missing a step?

If the hair is on a separate layer the bones on the head layer won't obey parenting, they relate to the object they're deforming. I'm assuming you mean a hair object rather than a hair surface...

A pic always helps:)

If the hairs a separate object just parent it to the head bone.

I did what SplineGod said, I parent the hair layer to the bone on the head and it worked, I was wondering if this was the norm, but it worked.

thanks for both of you, like I said I parented the hair to the top most bone on the head and it worked...

For a more complex project, say fur on a dog, I think you'd have to apply the dog's skeleton to the fur object. Right?

I guess, I have not gotten that far yet, as I am trying to learn Zbrush also, and it is hard for a 73 year old guy...?
