View Full Version : Thoughts on procedural modeling

Many say Modeler's way of working is "destructive modeling" as it does not have a construction history or procedural workflow. Having seen and used so-called non-destructive solutions that use polygon indexes, that change dramatically if you increase/decrease the subdivision of an element further up the chain, it got me tinking of a different way of handling it:

What do you guys think? Doable? If so, would it be useful?

doable? maybe, at least you can do this to a certain extent.
you can also store a vertex map with info and apply that, but it would need extra features.
for more complex geometry (spirals with extra 'arms') it might become a problem.

cool idea, but more work that it's worth? not sure...
