View Full Version : How do I create reverse cloth dynamics effect

I'm using cloth dynamics with gravity to make a falling ball suspended by a chain. Later on I will want the ball to do the reverse motion, and take the chain back up to the top. Normally I'd go to the graph editor, but there is no envelope for the calculated dynamic. Do I use the reverse numbers with an identical object to make things go in reverse? What's the best way to invert the calculation so that the objects go back to their original positions? Thanks for any ideas.

Reverse the rendered footage in your editing software?
Use a renaming utility to reverse the sequence of the rendered images (a copy of the rendered images of course).
Bake all calculations and movement then reverse it (good luck with that).

There's an MDD pointer node which can envelope playback of a mdd file.

You may also reverse an MDD in MDplug, set playback to -1, & offset start frame accordingly.

Will look into MDD. Reversing frames would be good if all objects were reversing but only one is --thanks for suggestions.

Fantastic plug-ins, videos, and suggestions. Exactly what I was looking for, thanks.
